Printed Ladder Lock Boomerang and G-hook

Writer's picture: TroubleMake[r]TroubleMake[r]

When I built my EDC bag, I printed some prototype plastic hardware. I've created some prototype variants in preparation for a big upcoming project.

Boomerang Hook - Ladder Lock Variant

This little bit is used in conjunction with either a cord loop or a flattened webbing loop. The ladder lock addition allows the webbing to tighten the enclosure.

G-Hook with Ladder Lock

It looks like you can only get G-hooks in metal for the most part, and that's all fine and dandy, but sometimes that's overkill. So I wanted one for smaller enclosures and pouches that don't support heavy loads.

STL files are available below. I will update this with additional and/or improved versions when I make them.

One thing I'll say is that this current version of the ladder lock does not work as well with tightly woven webbing like mil-spec, and better with the slightly thicker nylon or polyester traditional webbing. I will be making and testing some that are specifically meant for the thinner mil-spec stuff, but that'll be for another day.

I printed both with ABS, using 100% infill and 4 walls thick.
